WRC Director Testifies Before Vermont Senate Committee on Economic Development, General and Military Affairs

The purpose of the hearing, which was held at the Vermont Agricultural Business Education Center in Brattleboro, was to solicit testimony on progress towards planning for the economic impacts associated with the eventual closure of the Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Station, including the report of the Post Vermont Yankee Planning Group.  This planning effort is an initiative of the Southeast Vermont Economic Development Strategy (SeVEDS).  The Committee also heard testimony on other regional economic issues, including the impacts of Tropical Storm Irene.  The Brattleboro Development Credit Corporation and Betty Frye were the local organizers of the hearing.  The WRC’s testimony is here.
