WRC Hosts Public Hearings for Regional Energy Plan

The Windham Regional Commission will be hosting two public hearing on April 9th, 2018 at the Townshend Town Hall and April 12th, 2018 at the Westminster Institute both at 6:30 in the evening. The hearings are an opportunity for the public to submit comments and testimony on the draft plan amendment.

The WRC has been developing the energy plan over that past two years with three stakeholder events, four public outreach meetings, and 17 public meetings. The plan analyses current energy consumption, defines targets for future consumption, efficiency and conservation measures, as well as new renewable energy generation, and includes maps which illustrate energy generation potential in the Region. The basis of this comprehensive energy planning process is to give more local input into how the state goal of 90% renewable energy by 2050 will be pursued and implemented. For more information on Act 174 energy planning and to review the hearing draft energy plan visit the energy planning Act 174 page. Once adopted, following the hearings and a Full Commission vote, the Energy Plan will be incorporated into the Windham Regional Plan as a plan amendment.
