Solar Fever in Southern Vermont

During the Fall of 2013, the four southern Vermont regional planning commissions (Windham, Rutland, Bennington and Southern Windsor) paired with the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) and the Department of Energy (DOE) to bring a SunShot Solar Workshop to Vermont. The half-day workshop held at Stratton Resort was designed to provide actionable information on overcoming local-level barriers to solar, addressing soft costs, and implementing a successful local solar program in the community. ICMA provided two trainers to cover the technical portion of the workshop. A Q&A session then concluded the workshop, with a panel of local representatives and professionals experienced in developing municipal and community solar projects in Vermont answering audience questions. Approximately sixty people attended, with thirty-two towns represented and attendees hailing from Vermont, New Hampshire, Connecticut and Vermont. Feedback from the workshop has been excellent, with many requests for follow-up information and additional training. If you were unable to attend, but would like to receive the presentation materials from the workshop, please contact Cullen Meves at This email address is being protected from spambots.
